INFINITE SEARCH

With longing eyes,

I look deep within -

Sifting the dark layers,

Clouding my memory –

Of who I am –

And what I wanted to be.

THE LAST WALTZ

The air was filled

With soft tunes-

Of a lovely affair,

Of emotions so sweet-

Making hearts skip a beat.

Like a beautiful pair of swans,

They glided hand-in-hand.

Gracefully they swayed

To the rhythm of every beat.

Every smile or glance exchanged said –

A million words with ease.

On the threshold of a new life,

They gathered every memory of togetherness.

This was their last waltz

As ‘You’, ‘Me’ and ‘I’

Tomorrow being a new dawn as just ‘We’.

ECHO OF LAUGHTER

When the world rules you,

Making you feel like a pawn,

You never quit –

Hoping there will be break of a new dawn.

If you care what others think,

You’ll get claustrophobic and sink.

Down and down you’ll go,

Fall into a pit of self-doubt and feel low.

Once down, it’s difficult to rise,

To free yourself from the chains of distress;

That will foil every attempt,

To stand up again and protest.

You can’t change what people think,

Like a glass half full or half empty,

Refuse to give those views any authority.

And use your time more wisely.

If you let these vermin in,

They will kill you slowly from within.

What helps them to grow and multiply?

The steady fall in your confidence every time.

Make these rot at the very source;

With a beautiful smile like a roar –

So loud and so powerful,

Fill your soul with the echo of a hearty laughter.

IT COMES. BUT WHY IN FRAGMENTS?

There’s something peculiar about it always.

Elusive like a firefly –

Glowing brightly for one moment,

Then easily put off with a sigh.

Most of the times it’s difficult to find,

And it will never let you relax.

Moving stealthily like a shadow,

Embracing you like discomfort;

You will never find it,

When you need it the most.

Because it hates to see you rest,

You go hunting for it,

In your mind, sitting and thinking.

With a trembling pen staring blankly at the paper,

You look around everywhere,

Contemplating that you might catch it in the wind.

But like a tough nut to crack,

As slippery as an eel,

An idea is difficult to hold on to,

So you can exclaim, “Oh boy! What a great catch.”

LONG LIVE THE NIGHT

I find myself wrapped in a blanket of silence;

With just the cursor blinking on the screen,

It’s that hour of night

When everything is lulled to sleep.

I am not awake just to kill time,

Or hoping for sleep to stop by.

I am neither lovesick nor forlorn,

Just sinking in with silence when everything comes to rest.

The soft, rhythmic tune of the wind chime,

Only brings peace to my restless mind.

Its gentle sway and soothing sound,

Complements this silence all the more.

With the cursor blinking constantly

Making its presence felt without saying a word

Just like this tranquil hour

I wish time stops and never let this night pass by.
